Alan Woodhead - SAR Specialist
Alan is a qualified teacher, assessor, trainer & is a subject matter expert in search and technical rescue, having spent over 30 years working in in this area.
He has in-depth technical and commercial knowledge of search & rescue, both with the blue light services & commercial rescue teams.
He has worked for some of the major work at height & confined space equipment manufacturers & training providers in the UK.
As a technical rescue trainer himself, his work has taken him around the world delivering training to Government Agencies, Fire, Police, Military, Civilian Rescue Teams & the United Nations.
He is the owner & technical director of Rope Rescue Ltd, delivering on site technical training to industrial search and rescue teams.
Outside of work Alan is a member of Swaledale Mountain & Cave Rescue Team and has a 35-year ongoing service with Mountain & Cave Rescue in the UK. He’s also the Search Coordinator and call out officer for Search + Detection Dogs.
Outside of ‘Rescue’ he’s a keen climber, caver & skier
Alan sees his role ‘Search & Rescue Specialist’ as the point where all disciplines (rope, water, command / control, communications etc) come together to create a single safe & successful rescue.
